Kindly register in order to view this article!KOTA BHARU - Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) through the Faculty of Bioengineering and Technology (FBKT) is actively developing the Agroforestry Farm Pilot Project related to black turmeric -based health products that have high potential for commercialization.UMK Agroforestry Farm Pilot Project Head, FBKT Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor Dr Wan Mohd Faizal Wan Ishak said, the project to commercialize black turmeric or its scientific name 'kaempfiera parviflora' was done with the cooperation of research team from Syarikat Magical Wisdom Sdn Bhd under the guidance of Dr Fung Fwei Chong.According to him, realizing the great potential of the herbal plant, UMK and Magical Wisdom worked on 200,000 black turmeric seedlings that were grown organically without using chemical fertilizers.“Each tree is treated with a bacterial control agent to control the seedlings from fungal, insect and caterpillar attacks as well as a biological fertilizing agent to ensure the seedlings remain healthy, receive the necessary minerals and accelerate growth."Besides that, the soil used is also treated with bioremediation agents to be free from hydrocarbon chemicals and heavy metals," he said in a statement on Sunday.Dr Wan Mohd Faizal said, black turmeric is a species of medicinal herb from the ginger type and has been used as a traditional medicine since ancient times.Black turmeric trees grown organically without using chemical fertilizers by Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).“The results of a scientific study conducted by researchers in 2021 found many potentials and advantages of black turmeric extract on human health that can be commercialized."Among them can increase the body's cell metabolism, anti -cancer, relaxation of blood vessels, heart protection, increased sexual activity, nerve protection, anti -allergy and anti -bacterial," he said.He added that black turmeric has two active ingredients, namely bioflavonoids and methoxyflavones which are very high and are needed by the human body to improve the body system and give a quick recovery effect."It is not surprising if black turmeric is given the nickname natural viagra because the content of active ingredients found in black turmeric is not found in other ginger and if it is in other foods or herbs, the amount may be limited and relatively small."Black turmeric plants in Malaysia are quite difficult to obtain, making the tree not as popular as other herbs because it comes from Thailand and Cambodia and is usually imported from abroad such as Thailand, Taiwan and India," he said.He said the price of black turmeric is quite expensive and can reach RM500 to RM1,000 per kilogram apart from its cultivation in Malaysia is still quite limited due to its susceptibility to disease."The production of health products with the consumption of black turmeric will be balanced with a mixture of honey, stevia, gingko biloba and maca in the form of drinking juice."Studies show that 100 percent of consumers give positive feedback on the effects of using black turmeric as early as four days," he explained.Transparent & Sincere News just for you every day.Subscribe Now!
